These are the default templates. If you customized your messages in your Slate account, what your customers actually receive may differ from what's shown below. To see your live versions, check your Slate app or text us.

1. Missed-Call Text-Back

When someone calls your business number and you don't pick up, the system fires this sequence automatically. They get a text within seconds.

SMS 1 — fires within seconds of the missed call
Hey, sorry I missed your call! What project can I help you with? Just text me back here and I'll get you a quote. -[Your Name] from [Your Business]
SMS 2 — 5 minutes later
By the way, I do free estimates, just describe what you need and I'll give you a ballpark 👍
SMS 3 — 24 hours later (if no reply)
Hey, just making sure my texts came through, still need help with a project? Just say the word and I'll get you a free estimate 👍 -[Your Name]

2. Quote Form Reply

When someone fills out the quote form on your website, this fires within seconds.

Auto-reply
Hey [Customer Name], thanks for reaching out! Got your message about [Service]. Let me get you a quote — what's the best time to talk for 5 min? -[Your Name] from [Your Business]

3. Chat Widget

When a visitor opens the chat on your website, the AI greets them, asks about their project, and captures name + phone. You get an SMS notification when they leave a message.

AI greeting (in chat)
Hi! 👋 Thanks for visiting. What project can I help you with today?
Internal SMS to you (when message captured)
🔔 New website chat from [Customer Name] about [Service]. Phone: [number]. Reply in your app.

4. Review Requests (4 messages over ~4 weeks)

After you add a customer via the Marketing Form (in your app), the system asks them for a Google review. If they tap the review link in any message, the remaining messages stop automatically.

SMS 1 — Week 1 (immediately after Marketing Form submit)
Hey [Customer Name] — it's been about a month since we wrapped up. Hope everything's holding up great! If you have a minute, a quick Google review would help us out a ton: [Your Google Review Link]
SMS 2 — Week 2 (if no link click)
Hey [Customer Name] — just checking in. If you had a minute to share a quick Google review, it really helps small businesses like ours grow: [Your Google Review Link]
SMS 3 — Week 3
Hey [Customer Name] — last couple of asks on this. An honest Google review (good or bad) really helps us improve and helps other people find us: [Your Google Review Link]
SMS 4 — Week 4 (final ask)
Hey [Customer Name] — final ask, promise. If you can spare 60 seconds for a Google review, here's the link: [Your Google Review Link] Either way, thanks for your business!

5. 1-Year Follow-Up (5 messages spaced over the year)

After a customer gets your review SMS, they enter the 1-year sequence. These messages offer a referral discount and stay conversational, not pushy.

SMS 1 — Day 23
Hey [Customer], it's [Your Name] from [Your Business]. Hope everything's still looking great! Just wanted to let you know we're offering [Discount] off your next job (or for anyone you send our way). Claim it here: [Your Funnel Link] Feel free to share that link with friends and family too! -[Your Name]
SMS 2 — Month 3
Hey [Customer], [Your Name] here from [Your Business]. We're booking up for the next few weeks and wanted to reach out. If you or anyone you know needs work done, that [Discount] off offer is still good: [Your Funnel Link] -[Your Name]
SMS 3 — Month 6
Hey [Customer], it's [Your Name] with [Your Business]. We've been getting a lot of referrals from happy customers lately, and we really appreciate it. That [Discount] off offer applies to you too if you ever need anything done again: [Your Funnel Link] Same goes for friends and family. -[Your Name]
SMS 4 — Month 9
Hey [Customer], just checking in one more time. If you've got a neighbor, friend, or family member who could use some help with a project, we'd love the referral. They'll get [Discount] off: [Your Funnel Link] Thanks as always! -[Your Name] with [Your Business]
SMS 5 — Month 12 (final)
Hey [Customer], can't believe it's been about a year! Thanks for trusting [Your Business] with your project. If you ever need us again, or want to send someone our way, that [Discount] off is always there: [Your Funnel Link] We appreciate you. -[Your Name]

6. Reactivation Campaign (3 messages over 5 days)

For past customers who haven't come back in months. The system tries to reactivate them with 3 messages spaced over 5 days.

SMS 1 — Day 0 (soft check-in)
Hey [Customer], this is [Your Name] from [Your Business]. We worked together a while back, hope everything's holding up! If you have a minute, would love a quick Google review: really helps us out. 🙏
SMS 2 — Day 2 (special offer)
Hey [Customer], this is [Your Name] again. Quick heads up — we're running a special on [Service] this month. Limited spots since my schedule fills up. Want me to save you one?
SMS 3 — Day 5 (last attempt)
Hey [Customer], last time I'll bug you! Got a couple spots left this month. Want me to save you one? Just reply "yes" or "no" so I know. Have a great day! 👍

7. Opt-Out (STOP) — Legal Compliance

Federal law (TCPA / A2P) requires that every automated text channel honor opt-outs. If your customer replies STOP at any point, the carrier automatically removes them from all future messages. This is NOT something Slate decides — it's the phone company's rule.

What the customer types
STOP
What happens after
The customer never receives another automated message from your business number — ever. There is no AI reply, no follow-up. It's silence by design. This protects your sender reputation and keeps your number from getting blocked.
