How do I send review requests?

Use the Marketing Form in your app — enter the customer's name and phone, hit send, and the system handles the rest automatically. See full instructions →

What if someone leaves a bad review anyway?

Contact us. We can help you craft a professional response. Often, a thoughtful response to a bad review actually helps your reputation — it shows you care about customer satisfaction.

How many reviews should I aim for?

Goal: 70+ reviews in 6-8 months.

Send a request after EVERY happy customer. If you're doing 10 jobs a week and half of them leave reviews, that's 20+ reviews per month.

Where is my review link?

What happens with negative feedback?

When a customer rates 1-3 stars, they go to a private feedback form first. You get a text right away with their name, phone number, and what they said.

This gives you a chance to call them, fix the problem, and make it right before anything goes public. Most of the time, a quick call resolves everything.

Your customers can still leave a Google review any time they want — we never block that. This is just a customer service tool that gives you a heads up first.

Technical Questions

What's my login?

Your email from onboarding + the password you created. Password must have a special character (!@#$%).

Forgot password? Use the reset link on the app login screen, or text us.

Why do I have a new phone number?

Your dedicated business number is:

  • Connected to auto text-back (captures missed calls)
  • Linked to your Google profile
  • Forwards to your real phone

Customers call the business number → it rings your phone. You answer normally.

Can I use my own phone number instead?

The business number forwards to your phone, so you still answer on your normal phone. Customers see a professional business number, and you get the auto text-back features.

What if the app isn't working?

Try these steps:

  1. Force close the app and reopen it
  2. Check your internet connection
  3. Log out and back in
  4. Update the app if there's a new version

How do I enable notifications?

In the app: Settings → Notifications → Turn on All.

Also check your phone's settings to make sure the app is allowed to send notifications.

Where do I see my leads?

In the Conversations tab of your app. All leads — from forms, chat, calls, and social media — show up there.

How does auto text-back work?

When you miss a call, the system automatically texts the caller so you never lose a lead. Their reply shows up in your app. Learn more about lead management →

Why aren't I getting many leads?

This system focuses on quality over quantity. The leads you get are high-intent — people actively searching for your services. They convert at a much higher rate than leads from paid ads.

As your reviews grow and your Google ranking improves, lead volume will increase. Give it 3-6 months.

Referral Program

What is the Referral Program?

You earn $97 every month for each contractor you refer to Slate. No work needed. Just share your link.

How do I get my referral link?

Text REFER to our number. You will get a personal link back right away.

How much can I earn?

$97/month per referral. No cap. Refer 3 = $291/month. Refer 5 = $485/month. Refer 10 = $970/month.

When do I get paid?

Monthly on the 1st. Your referral needs to make their first payment before you start earning.

How do I check my balance?

Text BALANCE to see your total earnings. Text STATS to see your referral list.

What if my referral cancels?

You stop earning for that referral. Your other referrals are not affected.

Do I need to be a Slate client?

No. Anyone can be a referral partner.

How do I get paid?

Via direct deposit (Stripe). You set up your bank info once and get paid automatically every month.
